When two families decided to build their dream homes together on a tight, urban infill lot, they brought on the Plant Design Studio to help them create a space-efficient duplex that could comfortably house both families and their guests. The result is a three-story structure offering two spacious homes atop a guest suite and four-car garage.

The first-floor guest suite doubles as a shared recreation space, featuring a folding-glass wall that extends the living area onto a large patio. An interior staircase between the guest suite and garage leads to a central balcony on the second floor, separating the two duplex homes. The mirror-image designs each feature an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area with mud room on the second floor and three bedrooms on the third floor. Private balconies off the master bedrooms make the most of ocean views.

The ground-floor garage, guest suite, and patio were constructed in place while the second and third floors were fabricated in our factory. Each floor was manufactured as four complete Plant Modules™ for minimal on-site finish work and installed in just two days.
